Tuition and Fees
"An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest." Benjamin Franklin

The fee structure of the Haida Gwaii Semester includes two components:
1. Tuition (paid to University of British Columbia): $2304.15
This fee includes tuition costs for UBC, providing 15 UBC credits.
- UBC students pay tuition fees to their home university.
- Students from other institutions apply to UBC as visiting students through the Letter of Permission process. These students register at UBC for the winter semester and pay tuition fees to UBC.
2. HGHES Fees: $2500
The HGHES fees cover program costs, including:
- ·field trips
- on-island transportation associated with courses
- guest speakers
- special events
A $500 deposit must be received to hold your place in the Haida Gwaii Semester. Deposits are applied towards HGHES Fees.
Additional costs: Please note that students are responsible for covering the costs of transportation to and from Haida Gwaii, room and board while on island, and the costs of any recreational activities outside the program.
Check out the Daily Logistics of a Haida Gwaii Semester student for more information on what to expect for your additional costs on the islands.
“I foresee many exciting opportunities here on Haida Gwaii and hope that with continued studies I will be involved in the future of forestry on Haida Gwaii.”
~ Lynn Hughan, 2010 Haida Gwaii Semester Student (Local Haida Gwaii student)
