Housing & Getting Around
Housing
Students have a range of housing options throughout the community. Most accommodations are furnished and have kitchen facilities, and they range from hotel-style to boarding with a family. A detailed list of accommodations options is coming soon, stay tuned!
Getting Around
Transportation to all classes and other academic activities is provided by HGHES. Students are responsible for making arrangements for all of the extracurricular adventures they are sure to embark on. All Queen Charlotte amenities are within walking distance of residences, so getting around town on a daily basis is easy. Biking is a great way to get around the island, and the ride into class at the Haida Heritage Centre is a short and sweet 20-minute ride along the seashore. If you have a bike or vehicle, we highly recommend bringing it with you. The HGHES provides access to a limited number of bicycles for students.
“It has been great to finally see the Kaay centre being used for one of the main purposes it was built - to provide educational opportunities and showcase to the world what Haida Gwaii has to offer.”
– Jason Alsop, Haida Heritage Centre at Kaay Llnagaay
